All undergraduates presenting posters or talks at annual meetings of the MAA (MathFest and the Joint Mathematics Meetings) are eligible for funding. Subject to the availability of funds, the MAA will grant a maximum of $500 per student in support of direct expenses incurred traveling to and attending the meeting, not including subsistence or meeting registration fees (required for all participants).
Each successful applicant will be informed in advance of the meeting as to the amount of his/her grant. The awarding of a travel grant is contingent upon making a presentation at the meeting and submission of receipts for expenses. Students who accept this travel support are expected to participate fully in all aspects of the meetings.
Reimbursement for air travel will be based on actual expenses for reasonable economy tickets. Reimbursement for driving mileage will be based upon distance, with reimbursement not to exceed the federal Privately Owned Vehicle Mileage Reimbursement Rate as posted by the U.S. General Services Administration (www.gsa.gov). Driving reimbursement cannot exceed the cost of a standard coach airline ticket. Reimbursement for lodging will be based on reasonable actual expenses. Subsistence and meeting registration costs are not covered by these awards.
